Decosphaera is an engineered aliphatic polyurethane (PU) bead for superior anti-mar and matting properties. Decosphaera 18 F Transparent PU Beads have recently been approved as a matting agent by the US Army for the coating of armored vehicles.
Compared to silica products, Decosphaera offers a much improved scratch resistance. Decosphaera works by floating to the surface of the film and getting bound at the surface of the film via mechanical and chemical means (like an iceberg). The resulting formulated product is low gloss, and paramount for scratch and mar resistance.
Decosphaera Polyurethane
Decosphaera is a special pigment based on aliphatic polyurethane beads for making low gloss, anti-scratch, anti-abrasion and multi-color effects to paint coatings. Decosphaera’s unique properties make this product an agent to enhance the aesthetic and physical aspect of painted surfaces. Decosphaera is available in nine basic colors (blue, deep black, black oxide, red perm, red oxide, yellow perm, yellow oxide, clear, and white). It can be used in various formulations such as solvent, mono and bi-component, allowing unlimited application potential. The PU (polyurethane) beads are virtually indestructible with little to no limitations to the binder choice.
Decosphaera has successfully been adopted into making varnish, paint, wood, shoes, artificial leather, plastics, PVC foils, inks, textiles, and wall papers.
